Mrs. Blanche Jernigan, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, contacted Honorable Page Belcher, a member of Congress, to inquire about her family tree and whether her ancestors were listed on the Cherokee removal rolls. The Bureau of Indian Affairs responded that they could not find any information on Mrs. Jernigan's Cherokee ancestry, as her ancestors were not listed on the rolls. Further inquiries were made to the National Archives for more information. Mrs. Jernigan provided a brief history of her Casey family lineage, dating back to Levi Casey in the 1800s.
