Investigation of Allegations at Concho School by Bureau of Indian Affairs and Department of the Interior, 1965-03-18

 Item — Box: 141, Folder: 8a
Identifier: CAC_CC_004_10_141_8A_0003
The letter from Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior, Orme Lewis, Jr., to Congressman Page Belcher states that after an investigation into the administration of the Concho School, no irregularities or improprieties were found. The committee found that complaints against the Superintendent were based on misunderstandings or lack of information, and that the Superintendent showed dedication in dealing with the school's problems. The Bureau of Indian Affairs did not allow a member of the Tribal Council to be present during interrogations at the school. Congressman Belcher forwarded this information to Mr. Henry Ahtone, who had raised concerns about the school's administration.
