Project TRIBES: A Proposal for Indian Student Education Funding, 1972-06-20

 Item — Box: 98, Folder: 24
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_98_24_0004
The State Department of Education in Oklahoma submitted a proposal for Project TRIBES to the Office of Education, seeking funding for a program involving compiling information about Indian students for computer studies. Despite efforts to secure funding, the Office of Education indicated that they would not be able to support the project due to lack of funds and a desire to develop a statewide Indian program instead. The Speaker of the House, Carl Albert, expressed his personal interest in the project and urged for it to be given careful consideration. Despite the disappointment, the State Department of Education remains hopeful and appreciative of the support received.
