Concerns and Actions Regarding Housing Conditions in Lyons Switch Community, 1974-08-20

 Item — Box: 32, Folder: 19
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_32_19_0013
Senator Dewey Bartlett received a letter from Rachel Girdner regarding the poor condition of yards in the Lyons Switch community. The Housing Authority of Cherokee County had promised to fix the yards but had not done so. Some residents were delinquent in house payments, and there were discrepancies in who was allowed to live on Tribal Land without paying. Bartlett contacted the Department of Housing and Urban Development for assistance, and after an inspection, it was determined that corrective action was being taken for the eroded yards. Bartlett thanked the HUD director for his assistance and informed Girdner of the progress.
