The United Indian Tribes of Western Oklahoma and Kansas sent a resolution to Dr. Emory Johnson, Director of the Indian Health Service, requesting the establishment of an Indian Health Service Hospital facility at Shawnee, Oklahoma. They argue that the central location would benefit the service population of 20,794 Indian people representing 27 tribes within a 50-100 mile radius. Congressman Happy Camp thanked them for keeping him informed and offered his assistance in matters involving the Federal Government.
