Response from OSHA Regarding Labor and Unions in Oklahoma, 1979-11-13

 Item — Box: 170, Folder: 13
Identifier: CAC_CC_017_3_170_13_0019
Congressman Glenn English received a response from Eula Bingham, Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health, regarding OSHA activity in Oklahoma. Governor George Nigh of Oklahoma expressed concern about the increase in compliance officers in Oklahoma and the decrease in funding for the consultation program. OSHA explained the benchmarks for compliance officers in Oklahoma and clarified that the funding reduction did not impact the level of consultation services. Funding for the consultation program in Oklahoma increased in FY '80, allowing for program growth. OSHA agrees with Governor Nigh on the importance of consultation and training programs to reduce occupational hazards.
