Oklahoma Lawmakers Advocate for Direct Appropriation to Cover Indian Loan Administration Costs, 1959-05-13
Item — Box: 33, Folder: 22
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_33_22_0002
Oklahoma Senators and Congressmen are urging the Senate Appropriations Committee to provide a direct appropriation to cover the cost of administering loans to Indians by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. They argue that funds allocated for Indian loans have been significantly reduced in recent years due to administrative costs. They are requesting that the House-passed Interior Department appropriations bill be amended to provide for these administrative needs and to replace the funds that have been diminished. Other members of the Oklahoma delegation are also involved in the effort to address this issue.
