Mrs. Willie Hays of Willis, Oklahoma wrote to Congressman Carl Albert inquiring about payments to the Chickasaw and Choctaw Indians. Congressman Albert checked with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and informed Mrs. Hays that an award of approximately $3,000,000 was made to the nations in 1950 by the Indian Claims Commission, and most of it has been distributed to eligible individuals. If Mrs. Hays wanted further information, she was advised to contact the Area Director in Muskogee.
