In a $250,000 damage suit, a widow testified that Assemblyman Vernon Kilpatrick invited her to meetings at the home of former Congresswoman Helen Gahagan Douglas where discussions of overthrowing the government were held. Former Governor Olson testified as a character witness for Kilpatrick, stating that aside from his political beliefs, Kilpatrick was a gentleman. Another witness, a former Communist Party worker, admitted to attending meetings with Kilpatrick but denied any involvement in Communist activities. The trial also involved allegations of Kilpatrick being called a Communist by Beverly Hills Police Chief Anderson. Additionally, Ambassadors of Afghanistan and Thailand in India established diplomatic relations.
