Progress in Meat Distribution and Black Market Enforcement: A Report to Congress, 1945-05-30

 Item — Box: 3, Folder: 47
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_3_47_0007
The Office of Price Administration has implemented a program to improve the distribution of meat and combat the meat black market. Non-federally inspected slaughterers have been required to register with OPA and adhere to quotas based on legitimate operations. Enforcement efforts have been increased to crack down on black market activities, resulting in a significant increase in new enforcement cases. Additionally, measures have been taken to prevent the use of counterfeit ration coupons in the meat industry. These actions are expected to increase the flow of livestock to federally inspected plants and improve meat distribution to low-producing areas.
