 Item — Box: 3, Folder: 50
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_3_50_0006
The letter from Mrs. A. L. Warren, Secretary to Congressman George B. Schwabe, informs Attorney Samuel A. Boorstin about the response from the Office of Price Administration regarding the suggestion to ship horsemeat to Europe. The OPA states that the decision on food shipments to Europe is up to the Secretary of Agriculture and relief organizations. They acknowledge the use of horsemeat in Europe but do not show willingness to consider the suggestion. Congressman Schwabe has also sent the suggestion to the Secretary of Agriculture for consideration. The letter includes a newspaper article about the increasing consumption of horsemeat in the United States.
