 Item — Box: 3, Folder: 55
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_3_55_0008
Mr. Ream Peyton contacted George B. Schwabe, a member of the House of Representatives, to request assistance in raising ceiling prices for live hogs at the Vinita Stockyards. Schwabe contacted the OPA official in charge, who stated that certain records needed to be provided before higher prices could be authorized. The official also mentioned differences in pricing among markets, suggesting that the Vinita Stockyards may have lower charges due to proximity to farmers. Schwabe expressed frustration with the bureaucratic system and OPA regulations. He advised Peyton to provide the requested information and offered further assistance.
