 Item — Box: 3, Folder: 59
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_3_59_0004
The Sunbeam Sales Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma sent a letter to George B. Schwabe, M.C. regarding their difficulty in obtaining candies from manufacturers due to sugar rationing. The Office of Price Administration responded, explaining that regulations prevent the type of transaction suggested by the company. They expressed sympathy for the veterans involved but stated that there is little they can do under the circumstances. The OPA cited concerns about inequity and unfair advantages if the restrictions were lifted. Ultimately, they advised the veterans to sustain themselves through other means until they can successfully contact candy manufacturers.
