The Quapaw Indian Council in Miami, Oklahoma has approved the Indian Claims Commission Bill (H.R. 4497) and sent a resolution to Rep. George B. Schwabe in support of the legislation. Rep. Schwabe acknowledges receipt of the resolution and expresses gratitude for their support, stating that the bill has been carefully considered and is supported by many leading Indians in Oklahoma. The bill was the result of collaboration between Democratic and Republican members of the House Committee on Indian Affairs and is seen as serving the interests of Indians and prospective claimants better than any other proposed measure.
