Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_5_70_0003
Joe T. Rogers writes to George B. Schwabe, a House of Representatives member, expressing his opposition to a proposed labor draft law. Rogers believes there is no shortage of manpower and sees the law as a way for the government to control and oppress workers. He urges Schwabe to oppose the legislation and work with other Republicans to block New Deal measures. Rogers questions the government's honesty and transparency in handling the war effort and suggests using surplus government employees for labor instead of implementing a draft. Schwabe responds to Rogers, acknowledging his letter and thanking him for the information and support. Schwabe indicates that Rogers' testimonial will be considered when voting on relevant measures. Schwabe also expresses appreciation for Rogers' input and encourages him to continue offering suggestions and advice.
