Mr. Elder expresses his opposition to the O.P.A and its practices in a letter to Representative George Schwabe. He believes the O.P.A stifles production and legitimate free enterprise in America. Schwabe agrees with Elder's views and has consistently voted against the O.P.A and its extension. Both agree that there should be a thorough investigation of O.P.A personnel and proper legislative control should be included in any continuation of the O.P.A. They both advocate for a gradual lifting of controls to stimulate free production and distribution of consumer goods.
