Debate Over O.P.A. Extension, 1946-07-06
Item — Box: 6, Folder: Unknown
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_6_27_0002
The first text is a letter from George B. Schwabe expressing his disapproval of the proposed extension of the O.P.A (Office of Price Administration) and criticizing it as obnoxious and un-American. He believes that those in favor of the O.P.A have personal or selfish motives, such as benefiting from the black market or being on the O.P.A salary roll. The second text is a response from Dan W. James, who disagrees with Schwabe and believes that businesses can be trusted to be fair and should be given a trial without price controls.
