Schwabe states that he has consistently opposed the O.P.A. and campaigned on the promise to abolish it. He mentions receiving numerous letters urging him to keep the O.P.A. dead and assures Pierce that he will continue to fight against it. Pierce's letter to Schwabe urges him to do away with foreign planned economy and restore freedom to American citizens, specifically mentioning the impact on landlords and the lack of housing as evidence of ineffective planning by the New Dealers.
