George B. Schwabe, a member of the House Committee on Indian Affairs, wrote a letter to Chairman Robert L. Doughton expressing concerns about H.R. 2403, which would restrict the use of peyote in Native American religious ceremonies. Schwabe had received protests from his Indian constituents and requested to be informed of any hearings on the bill so that he and his constituents could testify.
