Mrs. G.L. Truax writes to Congressman George B. Schwabe requesting his influence in keeping young boys in military service for a year of training before being sent overseas. She expresses concern for her son who enlisted in the Navy and is being sent overseas after only 10 weeks of training. Congressman Schwabe responds, stating that he has voiced his disapproval of the practice to the House Military Affairs Committee and will continue to oppose it. He acknowledges that Congress does not directly control the matter, as it is handled by the Executive Department. Schwabe offers to help in any way he can and encloses a release from the War Department on the subject.
