Mrs. E. F. Brite wrote to Representative George B. Schwabe on March 19, 1945, expressing concern about 18-year-old boys being sent into active service with only a few months of training. Schwabe responded on March 24, 1945, explaining that he has raised this issue with the Committee on Military Affairs but has been unsuccessful in changing the policy. He expresses his own disagreement with the authorities and the lack of control the legislative group has over military decisions. Schwabe urges people to realize the seriousness of the situation and calls for change before the next election.
