Mr. L. A. Swain wrote a letter to Congressman George B. Schwabe expressing concern over the treatment and training of 18-year-old inductees in the Army. Swain criticized the Army for sending young, inexperienced soldiers into combat and called for a change in policy to provide more training before deployment. He urged Congressman Schwabe to take action and received a response indicating that the Congressman shared his concerns and had included his letter in the Congressional Record. Schwabe acknowledged the issue and promised to continue protesting against the current situation.
