Item — Box: 6, Folder: Unknown
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_6_46_0010
S/Sgt Oran R. Fleming Jr. is writing to Hon. George B. Schwabe in support of the draft being extended to one year with no exceptions. He believes that teen-agers and fathers should not be exempt from military service, as they have been serving for a long time overseas and other men should share the burden. Fleming also expresses his desire to return to school and hopes for immediate action on the draft extension. Schwabe responds by expressing his support for releasing those who want to go back to school, but also believes that teen-agers should not be drafted as they are not needed in certain roles. He promises to vote for the release of those in the Service at every opportunity.
