Mrs. Bill Ryan writes to Congressman George B. Schwabe expressing her disappointment with the draft law, as her 19-year-old son's college education was interrupted when he was drafted into the Army. She explains that her husband, a G.I. who lost his life in the war, would have wanted their son to continue his education. She requests that Congressman Schwabe take action to allow her son and others in similar situations to return to school and live normal lives. Congressman Schwabe responds sympathetically, expressing his opposition to the draft extension and the taking of boys who have not finished their school courses. He mentions a bill he introduced to prevent such situations and acknowledges the limitations of a minority Member of Congress.
