Item — Box: 6, Folder: Unknown
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_6_47_0018
Dr. Nelson is inquiring about the provisions of the Selective Service Draft Extension Bill and whether it provides for the discharge of men currently in service. Representative George Schwabe explains that efforts were made to include an amendment for the discharge of men in service, but it was not successful. He expresses his belief that the voluntary system has not been given a fair trial and that military authorities have not made enough effort to discharge men who should have been discharged. Schwabe assures Dr. Nelson that he is doing everything possible to provide a fair deal for men in service and secure their early discharge.
