Mrs. Gibbs wrote a letter to Congressman Schwabe expressing concern about her son, Sgt. James B. Gibbs, and other soldiers who have not been discharged from the military despite promises of demobilization. Congressman Schwabe explains that he has tried to pass bills for discharge, but has been unsuccessful due to opposition from the President and the New Deal majority in Congress. He offers to help Mrs. Gibbs if she can provide evidence of hardship or other valid reasons for her son's discharge. Mrs. Gibbs asks for Congressman Schwabe's assistance in getting her son and other Oklahoma boys back home as quickly as possible.
