Mrs. Pauline Ridley Bouldin wrote a letter to George B. Schwabe expressing her desire for laws to be passed to ensure that young men returning from the armed services are able to continue their education, prevent the drafting of men under 21 years old, and stop compulsory military training. Schwabe acknowledges her views and states that he has introduced bills along these lines, but is unsure if they will be enacted due to the influence of military organizations. Bouldin responds, reiterating her concerns and asking for action to be taken to protect young men from the negative impact of military service.
