Mrs. Ann Nese wrote a letter to Congressman George B. Schwabe urging him to vote against the $25 per week deferred labor program proposed by the President, which she believed was an attempt to buy the next election. Schwabe responded by sending her copies of the Congressional Record showing letters from prominent Democrats in his district who also opposed the program. He thanked her for writing and assured her that her letters strengthened his resolve to fight against changes to the American way of life.
