Attorney F.M. Hines requested the latest laws pertaining to veterans and widows of the Spanish-American War from Congressman George B. Schwabe. Schwabe acknowledged the request and sent a compilation of laws through the 78th Congress, as well as information on Public Law 242 which applies to the widow of a Spanish-American War veteran. Schwabe also provided application forms for pension benefits and offered further assistance. Hines expressed his gratitude and mentioned recent political developments in his letter.
