The Select Committee on Indian Affairs is working on a project to consolidate, revise, and codify laws relating to Indian Affairs in Title 25 of the U.S. Code. The project aims to update federal Indian law in accordance with recommendations from the American Indian Policy Review Commission. The committee is seeking funding to continue the project, including hiring law clerks to work on the revision. Tentative drafts of chapters on leasing Indian lands, Indian mineral resources, and Indian timber resources have been prepared. The current chapter outline of Title 25 and proposed part and chapter outline of the new code are provided in the memorandum.
