On March 15, 1974, groundbreaking for Lake Park in Claremore was conducted with funds from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. Senator Dewey Bartlett expressed his gratitude to Tom Kennan, John Fleeger, and Verna Vierheller for their efforts in organizing the dedication ceremony. The project includes playground equipment, hiking trails, restrooms, and other amenities, with completion expected by 1977. The park is funded by a combination of city sales tax and grants from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation.
