Senator Jackson believes that there is no one solution to all Indian problems and that Congress should provide help in areas of special need so that Indians can determine their own destiny. He has pushed for better education and health care for Indians, and has worked on legislation to reform federal aid systems for Indian education and to allow Indian tribes to run their own programs. Despite being labeled an enemy of Indians in the past, Jackson has a record of advocating for Native rights and has made significant breakthroughs in Indian legislation.
