Crisis in Funding: Request for Support from Tribal Chairmen, 1975-05-21

 Item — Box: 29, Folder: 9
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_29_9_0011
The letter is a request for payment of salaries for employees of the American Indian Special Service, Inc. The director, Lincoln Tartsah, claims that proper procedures were not followed in the phase-out of funding for the program and requests immediate payment. He threatens to involve the Labor Commissioner if the salaries are not paid promptly. Tartsah also mentions that their funding proposal for the next fiscal year was rejected and blames politics for the decision. He calls for a meeting of the Oklahoma Indian Affairs Commission to discuss the situation.
