Item — Box: 7, Folder: 8
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_7_8_0011
Mr. Wiles wrote to Representative George Schwabe in January 1946 to inquire about the income tax exemptions for American Red Cross personnel serving overseas. Schwabe forwarded the inquiry to the Joint Committee on Internal Revenue, and after some delays, received a response in June 1946. The response indicated that there was a bill pending before the Committee on Ways and Means that would provide such an exclusion for Red Cross personnel. Schwabe apologized for the delay and provided Wiles with a copy of the bill. The letter from the Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Internal Revenue also confirmed the status of the proposed legislation.
