Mrs. Ann Nees wrote to George B. Schwabe, a member of Congress, urging him to vote against the $25 per week deferred labor program proposed by the President, which she believed was an attempt by the Administration to buy the next election. Schwabe responded by sending her copies of the Congressional Record showing letters from prominent Democrats in his District who were also opposed to the program. Schwabe thanked Nees for her letter and assured her that he would continue to work against any threats to the American way of life.
