Congressman Schwabe's Letter Regarding Opposition to Consolidation of Armed Forces, 1946, 1946-05-04
The letter is expressing disapproval of President Truman's desire to consolidate the Armed Forces into one organization. The author, George Schwabe, is skeptical of the proposed merger and believes it may not be in the best interest of the Military Forces and the country. He mentions that while some Army men are in favor of the merger, Navy men are not as they fear it may ignore traditions and strong features of the Navy.
