Appeal from a Wounded War Veteran for Employment Reinstatement, 1945-12-07
Jack W. Ferguson, a veteran who was honorably discharged from the Navy after sustaining injuries in Iwo Jima, is seeking help from Representative George B. Schwabe to be reinstated in his civil service position as a Correctional Officer at the Federal Reformatory in El Reno, Oklahoma. Despite being authorized partial disability by the Veterans Administration, he was told he was not physically qualified due to defective hearing. Ferguson believes he is capable of handling the position and is frustrated by the lack of consideration for returning veterans with disabilities. He urgently needs income to support his family and requests prompt action from Schwabe to reverse the decision made by officials.
