Assisting Miss Fickett's Pursuit of a Position with the Veterans' Administration: A 1945 Correspondence, 1943-01-18
Miss Rosena Fickett wrote a letter to Hon. George B. Schwabe, Congressman from Oklahoma, seeking assistance in obtaining an appointment as a clerk-stenographer or secretary in the local office of the Veterans' Administration. Congressman Schwabe contacted Civil Service officials on her behalf and was informed that the Veterans Administration needs 13,000 stenographers. He provided Fickett with forms to be executed in duplicate and suggested she take them in person to the local Veterans Facility administrator to request an appointment. Alternatively, she could return the forms to him and he would transmit them to the appropriate officials. Congressman Schwabe expressed willingness to help further and mentioned his acquaintance with Fickett's brother, Harold Fickett.
