Correspondence Regarding Miss Bernice G. Griffin's Application to the Veterans Administration, 1946-04-24
Miss Bernice G. Griffin applied for a nursing position with the Veterans Administration but was displeased with the response she received. Congressman George B. Schwabe is looking into the matter and trying to assist her. The Veterans Administration stated that Griffin's application is under consideration, but she expressed a preference for a position in a sub-regional office in Tulsa rather than starting at the junior grade. Congressman Schwabe is unsure of the rules regarding appointments and suggests that Griffin may have better opportunities in a civilian institution. He also questions the need for trained nurses in the Veterans Administration. Schwabe assures Griffin that he is willing to help and asks for further information on how he can assist.
