Inequities in OPA Regulations: A Call for Action, 1945-04-26

George B. Schwabe, a member of Congress, is writing to Bernard Goodkind, Chief Counsel of the Distribution Price Branch of the Office of Price Administration, to address concerns about discrepancies and discriminations in OPA regulations regarding mark-downs and close-out sales of ladies' apparel. Schwabe is requesting immediate and thorough attention to the issue and a suitable regulation to remedy the difficulty. He highlights specific examples of how the current regulations are causing financial loss and embarrassment to merchants. Schwabe also points out inconsistencies in the regulations for men's and women's clothing, urging for a fair and reasonable approach to setting ceiling prices.
