Item — Box: 5, Folder: 38
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_1_5_38_0004
George B. Schwabe, a congressman from Oklahoma, explains in a letter to an attorney at law that the bill he recently introduced regarding the employment of an Osage Tribal Attorney does not give the attorney the authority to represent individuals in private matters. He clarifies that the Tribal Counsel will represent the Osage Tribe as a whole and not individual Osage Indians. Schwabe discusses the approval of the bill by the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and the intention behind the employment of the Tribal Counsel. He also mentions the language of the bill and the approval process involved.
