The text is a correspondence between E. S. Bronson and N.A. Nichols regarding J. E. Shields and his abilities as an instructor. Shields has been recommended by Mr. Bonnin and it is suggested that he write to H. B. Peairs for further recommendation. Bronson mentions his laziness in writing and thanks Nichols for his promptness. Nichols expresses confidence in being able to hold Shields temporarily and suggests bringing pressure to bear on Peairs for a permanent position.
