The Senate Joint Resolution proposes the establishment of the American Indian Policy Review Commission to review and reform past National Indian policies in order to allow Indian people to develop their resources fully. The Commission will be composed of members of Congress and the Indian community, and will have specific duties such as conducting hearings, studying treaties and statutes, and recommending modifications to existing laws. A budget of 2 million dollars is recommended for the Commission, which will have powers to hold hearings, gather information, and maintain confidentiality as needed.
