Ray Hatton, a candidate for Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, is appealing to Secretary Cecil D. Andrus of the Department of Interior to intervene in the tribal election process. He raises concerns about the lack of transparency and democratic principles in the election procedures and regulations approved by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Hatton believes that the incumbent candidate has biasedly influenced the election process Carl Albert to his advantage, and requests for the removal or reassignment of the Area Director responsible for approving the regulations.
