The Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma is concerned about a bill that would amend Public Law 280 to place Indian country in Oklahoma under state jurisdiction without tribal consent. They have sent a resolution outlining their position to Congressman James Jones and are requesting his opposition to any Federal Congressional action affecting the jurisdictional status of Indian Country in Oklahoma without tribal consent.
