Mr. Pickens wrote to Carl Albert, a state representative, regarding the payment to Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes for the sale of their coal lands to the government. The full amount is included in a bill being held up in the Appropriations Committee, but Albert assures Pickens that he will do his best to ensure its passage.
