Concerns About Price Control: A Letter Exchange, 1946-07-11

The first letter from George B. Schwabe discusses the overwhelming opposition to the revival of price controls, specifically O.P.A, from constituents. He notes that both landlords and tenants are against rent controls and that bureaucratic control is difficult to administer and unpopular. Schwabe mentions the lobbying efforts of black marketers and bureaucrats to maintain controls. The second letter from Dick Kinmond expresses concern about inflation and urges Schwabe to vote for an extension of price controls to help veterans and the general public cope with rising prices.
