The Debate Over Price Controls: A Letter from Congressman George B. Schwabe, 1946-06-29

The letter from Mr. Hollingsworth to Congressman George B. Schwabe expresses support for the continuation of the O.P.A to prevent inflation and protect the economy. Congressman Schwabe responds that he has received overwhelming opposition to price controls, particularly the O.P.A, from constituents. He believes that bureaucratic control is difficult to eliminate once implemented and that the O.P.A was poorly administered. Schwabe appreciates the input from constituents and assures them that he will vote based on his best judgment on this and other measures before Congress.
