A resolution was adopted at a meeting of Choctaw Indians in Oklahoma City on March 15th, 1946, endorsing James H. Belvin as the choice for Principal Chief of the Choctaws. The resolution also requested action on the sale of coal and asphalt deposits, information on tribal affairs, and support for the Claims Commission Bill. A letter from Elmer Thomas explained that the President makes the appointment of Principal Chief and suggested sending any petitions to the Secretary of the Interior.
