Scope and Contents
Memo written by Theodore C. Sorensen to Carl Albert, in 1973 of proposed plans for a scenario where Speaker Albert succeeded to the presidency. The memo provided a step-by-step checklist of how and what to do "in those first hours and days of unprecedented pressure" as president and included advice on drafting an inaugural address and appointing a Cabinet. The memo recommended the appointment of a Republican Vice President, but urged Albert to remain in office as President until the end of the term.
